Leica Q2 Review – Leica Q2 body design is very detailed, classic but very classy. The build quality feels very solid with magnesium body which is weather resistant (IP52). The body and lens are equipped with protection against dust and splash.

Leica Q2 is simple in its use, there are two ways to set the AF point that is through a 3-inch touch screen that has a resolution of 1.04 million dots or uses the four-way d-pad navigation button.

On the left side of the screen are three buttons they are Play, FN, and Menu. Then there is the programmable button on the right end and on the top of the camera there are two knobs to adjust the exposure.

Interestingly, by pressing the Menu button once, the ‘Favorites’ menu will appear which has 15 customizable shortcuts. When pressing twice the main menu will appear.

The electronic viewfinder (EVF) uses an OLED panel with a resolution of 3.68 million dots with a magnification of 0.76x. The diopters beside the EVF must be pressed before they can be rotated to prevent accidental changes.

28mm Fix Lens

The core of the Leica Q2 is a 47.3-megapixel full frame sensor and Summilux 28mm f1.7 APH fix lens. The lens consists of 11 elements in 9 groups, with 3 aspherical and optical stabilized elements.

it is equipped with a Maestro II processor that is able to take pictures without stopping 10 fps with a mechanical shutter and up to 20 frames with an electronical shutter. The auto focus speed is 0.15s and the sensitivity is in the ISO 50 to 50,000 range.

For those who need more flexibility in managing photo composition, Leica Q2 has a crop mode that allows us to take pictures with a choice of 35mm (30MP), 50mm (15MP), and 75mm (6.6MP) focal lengths. Thanks to the high resolution, the quality of the photos is still very good.

Leica Q2 is capable of recording 4K video at 24 fps or 30 fps. As well as slow-motion 120 fps video at Full HD resolution. Please note, Leica Q2 does not have an audio port to plug in an external microphone.
