JBL Flip 4 Portable Bluetooth Speaker Review – In the box, you will get a JBL Flip 4 bluetooth speaker, charging cable, and instruction and warranty information. From design, not much at a glance distinguishes it from the previous generation JBL Flip 3. But there are some small design changes such as buttons that turn into triangles that are more suitable for pause or play. In addition, the JBL Flip 4 is still cylindrical with a passive bass radiator at both ends. One more major difference that makes the Flip 4 worth upgrading to the previous model is waterproof
The fabric that wraps the speaker may look quite similar to the previous model, but actually this material is really waterproof. JBL Flip 4 holds the IPX7 Certification which can be soaked for 30 minutes to a meter of water depth, and also means it is resistant to dust, dirt and sand. So bringing this to the beach doesn’t matter. You can put it in the sand and in the water and then wipe it as usual, then put it in the bag. Just note that the JBL Flip 4 still doesn’t float if you put it in the water, so if you accidentally drop it into the pool, it will immediately sink down.
But in addition, you will still get four playback control buttons along the speaker side, the power button and JBL Connect + which are on the back side. That’s also where you will get five indicator lights that show how much battery life is left and a small flap to hold water from the micro USB charging input and the 3.5mm audio jack hidden underneath.
JBL Flip 4 Connectivity
JBL Connect + button located on the JBL Flip 4. If you remember that Flip 3 also has a JBL Connect button, but here is Connect + and the extra plus sign makes a big difference. While the previous JBL Flip 3 can only connect two JBL speakers together, the Connect + button on the Flip 4 can connect up to 100. It’s pretty great, until you realize that you can’t connect to the previous speaker who doesn’t have Connect +.
You can control volume with the plus (-) and minus (-), pause / play music buttons or access your mobile personal assistant with the play button, jump to the next song by pressing the triangle play button twice, and easily enter the Bluetooth pairing mode with special buttons.
JBL Flip 4 Battery Life
JBL Flip 4 claims the battery life can last around 12 hours. This is true if you listen to music with a volume between 50-75%. But if the maximum volume, maybe you only get 4 hours maximum. Yes, big difference. But the reason is because most people use waterproof Bluetooth speakers outside the home.
